DATA YOU CAN CHECK

The source matters.
So do its limits.

We import every nonblank data row in the received file and preserve every column. Reconciliation checks that rows read equal rows preserved. This verifies the file copy; it does not prove that the registry includes every physical charger in the Canary Islands.

PRIMARY SOURCE

Instalaciones de puntos de recarga para vehículos eléctricos

Gobierno de Canarias · SITCAN · Transición Ecológica y Energía

The catalog attributes the original data to Ministerio para la Transición Ecológica y el Reto Demográfico · RIPREE.

The catalog page checked on 2026-09-10 reported an update on 2026-09-01. That documentary observation is not a file download and does not confirm the freshness of each installation.

How we transform the data

  1. HTTPS download from the allowlisted official host. We save the original bytes and their SHA-256. If the API is unavailable, we try the known official CSV link and record the limitation.
  2. We read the delimiter and encoding; reject HTML responses, truncated rows and unrecognized schemas. Additional columns are never discarded from the original JSON.
  3. We group rows sharing an identifier and declared location. Without an identifier we use a fingerprint of identity attributes. References to all rows are kept. Location totals are not a count of sockets.
  4. Only valid coordinates in the Canary Islands region appear on the map. Island assignment uses the source field or an editorial municipal lookup; it is not guessed from approximate coordinates. Teguise is not assigned automatically because it includes La Graciosa.
  5. We identify connectors and current only from explicit labels. We do not decode numeric codes without a dictionary. kW requires a recognizable unit or an approved mapping. Grouped power is the maximum across rows, not guaranteed simultaneous capacity.
  6. We validate counts, coordinates and integrity. A failure, a drop of more than 15% in rows/locations or an unusual loss of coordinates stops publication for review. The previous valid edition stays available.

What we do not know

This dataset is not a live occupancy service. We do not assume a location is available, operational, accessible 24 hours a day or free. Prices, opening hours or status in the source are shown as published values, not current verification.

“Near me” distance is geodesic, as the crow flies. It does not account for roads, ravines or ferry crossings. External navigation links let you review an actual route.

Downloads & reuse

The official file has not been downloaded in this installation yet. Download links become available after a valid import. The administrator can start the import from /admin/.
